At Texture curl academy we offer 1-1 education, salon team education, and group education days, So if you would like education in curls, coils and texture , let me know what you need and we can also create something bespoke just for you !

    • Time: 10:00 — 17:00 (full day, breaks included)

    • Format: 1:1 bespoke coaching, tailored to your experience level

  • Join up to eight learners for a full-day, hands-on training from 10:00–17:00 (with breaks). This intensive workshop gives salon professionals a clear, practical understanding of curls and textured hair so you can offer more inclusive, confident services the moment you return to the salon.

    What you'll learn

    • History and terminology: respectful language and cultural context behind textured hair.

    • Curl and coil identification: how to recognize and assess different patterns and porosities.

    • Product and tool selection: choose the right cleansers, conditioners, styling products and equipment for textured hair.

    • Cleansing and hydration: protocols for washing, detangling and restoring moisture without damaging curl integrity.

    • Cutting techniques: foundational dry and wet cutting methods tailored for curls and coils, plus how to consult and set realistic expectations.

    • Simple styling: quick, salon-ready techniques (wash-and-go, twist-outs, diffusing, protective styles) that clients can recreate at home.

    • Practical demonstrations and practice: model work and guided practice so you build tangible skills, not just theory.

    • Salon stylists, colorists and apprentices wanting to expand services for clients with textured hair.

    • Salon owners and managers aiming to create an inclusive offering and train their teams.

    Class format

    • Small groups (max 8) for focused attention and hands-on practice.

Chris Grimley

Award-winning hairdresser | Curly & textured hair educator | Salon owner of Fusion Hair Co

With over 40 years in the hairdressing industry, I’ve dedicated my career to mastering my craft, growing a passionate team, and championing education across all hair textures. I specialise in curly and textured hair, an area I recognised early on as being underrepresented in training and salon confidence, and it became my mission to change that.

As the proud owner of Fusion Hair Co in Laceby for the past 19 years, I’ve built a salon known for excellence, inclusivity, and creativity. My work has been recognised with multiple awards, including the Hair Magazine Award for Texture, Salon Business Gold Award for Texture, and Salon Awards for both Textured Stylist and Texture Salon, among others.

I’m passionate about sharing knowledge far and wide, supporting the next generation of hairdressers, and helping the industry move forward with confidence and understanding. When you train with or sit in my chair, you’re in experienced, award-winning hands and part of a movement to raise standards in textured hair care across the industry.
